About the New England Society of American Foresters
The
New England Society of American Foresters
(NESAF at http://www.nesaf.org)
represents almost 1100 forest resource professionals in both public
and private employment in the states of Vermont, New Hampshire, New
York, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, Connecticut, and Maine, and the provinces
of New Brunswick and Quebec. We are one of 34 state and regional societies
comprising the nationwide Society of American Foresters which represents
more than 18,000 professional foresters from the United States and Canada.
The goal of NESAF is to advance the science, technology, education,
and practice of forestry throughout our area.
NESAF's members are graduates of accredited college and university programs
in forestry. As professionals, their role encompasses broad aspects
of land management, education, and research, and considers the many
resources of the land: wood, water, wildlife, recreation, aesthetics,
biological diversity, and unique habitats. Our professional foresters
are experts at nurturing, protecting, and enhancing the natural life
cycles of New England's forests, public and private, to help produce
the natural forests products, benefits, and values that society wants
and needs. We strive to be a source of objective and credible information
as we participate in discussions about the management of the Northern
Forest.
