EXPERIENCE

Teaching

English Composition September 1987-June 1989

Department of English, University of Montana

Taught the art and skill of expository writing to undergraduates for six terms, classes averaging twenty students. Developed all lesson plans, emphasizing writing as process through daily workshops and discussions.

Environmental Education May 1984-June 1987

Keewaydin Foundation (Salisbury, VT); New York State Department of Environmental Education (Delmar, NY and Saranac Lake, NY); Massachusetts Audubon Society, Drumlin Farm (Lincoln, MA); Zion National Park (Springdale, UT)

Explored the natural with people of all ages; led hikes, canoes trips, and backpacking trips; gave slide presentations and natural history talks; prepared and implemented all lesson plans.

Writing

Graced by Pines. 117pp. Published by Mountain Press. A collection of essays about the ponderosa pine in the American west.

Published in Conservationist, Ithaca Journal, Vermont Life, High Country News, Falcon, Montana Outdoors, and Initiations (French trans.).

Designed interpretive trail and wrote text for interpretive brochure and signage.
