WILL BENEFIT FOR YEARS TO COME.
Tips for Selecting A Consulting
Relationships with foresters are often long lasting, so be sure you are comfortable
with the forester's professional approach. Speak with a few foresters about their
services, experience, and credentials. Inquire about their fee schedule. If possible, talk
with other landowners for whom foresters have worked or look at examples of their work.
CFAV members adhere to professional standards:
- have a bachelor's, master's or equivalent degree in forestry and at least two years of
forestry consulting experience or an associate's degree in forestry and at least five
years of consulting forestry experience;
- update their knowledge of forestry by participating in continuing education programs;
- abide by the ethical standards including solely representing the interests of the
landowner thereby avoiding a conflict of interest.
